De Vitre, John Durham Denis, Reverend, Naval Chaplain, 1870-1951.

The papers consist of letters and drafts of letters concerning his service but most of the collection is concerned with his family, which originated in Canada with Mathew Theodosius, Marquis de Vitre (d.1771) and his son John Denys de Vitre, who entered the Royal Navy in 1771. There is a mathematical work book belonging to the latter.
