Figure

Staffordshire earthenware figure representing Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, later Edward VII (1841-1910), in a sailor suit, hands in pockets. It is loosely based on the 1846 portrait by Franz Xaver Winterhalter. The base is painted greenish brown and the figure has a coloured face, blue spotted shirt, black tie and yellow hat. The green and black enamels are applied over the glaze. There are traces of gilding on the cuffs.
