Figure
Earthenware flat-backed figure of a sailor. He has long hair and a beard but no moustache and wears white trousers and shirt, a blue jacket and a yellow straw hat. His right foot rests on a small cannon and his left hand on an upended gun. Red and blue coloured banners are placed behind his bent right knee and he is shown saluting with his right hand to his hat. 'ENGLAND' is moulded on the base at his feet. The white base has a gilt line around it and the upper surface is painted to suggest grass. The hollow figure is enclosed at the bottom, the upper part of the back is moulded and coloured the lower part is roughened and plain. Originally one of a pair.
