Figure

An earthenware figure wearing trousers, a jacket with wide sleeves and a turban. A bird perches on his right wrist, possibly a parrot. The turban is painted with red and white checks, the trousers are white, the jacket blue and the shirt white and green stripes. The figure also wears a cummerbund painted orange with a tassel, the face painted in naturalistic colours with a moustache. The white base is extended behind the figure to support it and is moulded and painted with a black anchor. Possibly intended to represent a Turkish sailor among a set of figures representing the allies in the Crimea War.
