A section of submarine cable. Shore end Suez - the core consists of seven copper wires coated with four layers of gutta percha alternating with four layers of Chatterton's compound covered with a cushion of tarred jute. The outer sheathing consists of ten iron wires covered with tarred hemp and compound.
