This month we are shining a spotlight on a brand new catering supplier Food Story who have just been approved across our five venues. Food Story are an established event catering company designing exquisite kosher experiences for private and corporate clients. We sat down with Rebecca Belson, Senior Event Manager, and asked some questions to discover what makes her tick.

Let’s start simple…are you a dog or a cat person?

I am a total dog person but sadly allergic to them, but I admire from a distance.

Oh no, what a shame! Let’s dive in a bit deeper…which of our five venues is your favourite and why?

The Queen’s House is beautiful and regal – the perfect setting for an intimate wedding. The tulip staircase is picture perfect. I also love the uniqueness of the National Maritime Museum; I think it would be a great setting for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah party.

What are you most excited about doing on an event here at Royal Museums Greenwich?

As soon as I stepped into The Queen’s House, I felt like I was transported to Italy. I immediately started imagining a fine Italian feast set on a beautiful table dressed with Sicilian lemons. I can’t wait to explore this with a bride who loves Italian food as much as I do.

Wow! I can’t wait! You do a lot of weddings.

If you could give a wedding client just one piece of advice, what would it be?

Finalise your guest numbers before you begin searching for a venue. There is nothing worse than falling in love with a venue before you know if your guests can fit.

What’s the most fabulous request you’ve ever had from a client?

Food Story are known for being innovative and creative. Every event is different, and I make sure I spend time with our clients to ensure they are represented through the menu we choose together. I enjoy bringing people’s theme to life through our service style, what our staff wear, how we plate the food or what serve. We had a fun fair themed Bar mitzvah where we served “Swim & Tonic’s” – it was a gin & tonic served in a goldfish bag like you would win at the fun fair.

That looks so much fun! Finally, to finish up, if you could eat just one of your dishes for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

If you hadn’t already guessed, I love all things Italian. I think it would be our famous mushroom arancini with truffle aioli or beef carpaccio.
