For this workshop, we are celebrating three black female astronauts who have made, or will be making, history:

Mae Jemison – The first black woman to travel to space

Jeanette Epps – In 2021, Jeanette will become the first black woman to live on the International Space Station

Joan Higginbotham – Third African-American woman to travel to space

Using the print outs, turn these women into super sheroes by designing a mask for them to wear to space.

You will need:

  • A print out of one of the astronauts
  • Accessories sheets
  • Colouring pencils, pens, crayons
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Next, choose some accessories for your super shero, from the templates below. You can cut the shapes out, or draw your own inspired by these. Then colour them in.

Carefully stick your super shero mask and any other accessories onto your astronaut so that they are ready for their adventures in space!
