What does your work involve?

Darama, yourboykiran and Zar are DJs and producers, and part of the team behind South Asian collective DAYTIMERS.

What inspires you?

As a collective we have been showing since 2020 the power of a community and its collective energy, by championing the UK’s South Asian diaspora.

DAYTIMERS was started as a way to carry on the message of the daytime parties of the 80s and 90s (from which DAYTIMERS gets its name), where young British Asians skipped school to dance to bhangra, jungle and garage in community spaces.

What message would you give to the next generation?

Community is power! Find your people and give your gifts in whatever way they may be. Be proud of your background, history and story. DAYTIMERS would not have started if it wasn’t for the legends who laid the foundations for us, such as DJ Ritu, Bobby Friction, Sweety Kapoor, DJ Radical Sista and so many more – too many to name here.
