Come and draw breath at this very special session led by artist Tania Kovats and Jane Sassienie for teachers and learning professionals.

When you pause, take a breath and draw, you are giving time and space to yourself. Breathing and drawing together, connects us. It shows us new ways to be together and to be present. Teachers and learning providers support the wellbeing of others but sometimes they forget to take time for themselves. 

This is an opportunity to practise simple mindful breathing and make an accompanying drawing that marks your presence.

What will the session cover?

In this free session, teachers will use drawing as an approach to wellbeing by:

  • Building skills to manage stress
  • Increasing self-awareness
  • Focusing on the present
  • Reducing negative emotions
  • Increasing imagination and creativity

This session is open to teachers of any subject or key stage. No previous drawing experience is necessary to take part.

There will also be the chance to sign up and register your interest for a follow-up digital reflection session.

About the artists

TANIA

Tania is an international renowned contemporary artist who is a Professor of Drawing and Making at DJCAD, University of Dundee. Drawing has always been part of her creative process and her books on the subject include The Drawing Book: Drawing as the Primary Means of Expression, and Drawing Water: Drawing as a mechanism of Exploration. She will be teaching from a belief that drawing as a practice can provide tools of respite and creativity rather than delivering a formal, skills-based curriculum.

JANE

Jane is a co-owner of the global consultancy Bridge Partnership and has worked for over 25 years successfully helping organisations change, developing leaders in many sectors all over the world. Jane guides others to grow practices that support their own evolution. Before studying organisational change and psychotherapy Jane’s first degree was in art, an approach that often returns to her life to enhance and vitalise her ways of seeing the world.
