In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
As soon as I arrived here I told Mr Howard the Agent Victualler that my ship was in want of provisions before she could be cleaned and refitted. I asked for 6 weeks provisions, but he said that he was in considerable debt for victualling His Majesty's ships and would not supply me or any other ship. I shall make what provisions I have on board hold out as long as I can. Document signed by Captain Wavell, Commander of the SPEEDWELL.
