In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Memorial concerning the two Marine Regiments- Pursuant to her late Majesty's order of 18 June 1694 for recruiting the Marine Regiments, these were established in the same year, but by deaths, desertion and the great numbers that have been turned before the mast, and for the want of orders to recruit since that time the regiments are much reduced. Whereas the Parliament have made provision for the regiment for 1697, it is hoped the Board will consider speedy recruitment to the regiment. Signed Joseph Stopford, Major, Marine Regiment.
