Unboxing the Universe is a multi-sensory live science show that turns big space questions into exciting moments of discovery and wonder.
Packed with awesome live demos from Royal Observatory Astronomers, weird and wonderful smells, and hands-on audience participation, Unboxing the Universe is bursting with answers to your biggest space questions, like:
- What is a black hole?
- What does our Solar System smell like?
- Is it possible to beat the speed of light?
- What does it take to launch a rocket into space?
This exciting new science theatre show will spark a sense of wonder in kids and adults alike. It’s the perfect experience for anyone who has ever looked up into the night sky and wondered what’s out there.
As part of the show, you can also ask our experts any burning questions you may have about the Universe!
Unboxing the Universe opens in April, with two shows running each Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
In the school holidays, there’ll be additional shows on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

How to book
Age recommendations
Unboxing the Universe is for 7+. Older or younger siblings of any age will be admitted but parents and carers should understand that the show has not been designed for their age range.
All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Visiting the National Maritime Museum
Unboxing the Universe takes place in the Lecture Theatre within the National Maritime Museum.
The Museum is a short walk from the centre of Greenwich, with regular DLR, rail, bus and river boat services available.
