Midshipman's journal kept by Anthony David Favager Dalton on the destroyer HMS AISNE (9145)

The volume incorporates various inserts including photographs and drawn charts, with comments made in the margins by his supervising officer. The journal references the Indonesian Confrontation [Konfrontasi].

The HMS AISNE was part of the 30th Escort Squadron, normally based in the Mediterranean, but urgently sent to Singapore in September 1964. Anthony David Favager Dalton records defensive patrols in the Malacca Strait and South China Sea as part of the British military response to the Indonesian Confrontation. The AISNE returned to Malta in December 1964. Later in the journal there are NATO manoeuvres in the Iceland-Faroes gap and a visit to Norway. The AISNE was back at Singapore in July 1965 and in the following month took part in exercises off Malaysia.
