Personal letters of Rear-Admiral Denham Maurice Turner Bedford: (1) Goodbye letter from Captain Cuthbert Coppinger, in command of HMS EFFINGHAM (1921), flagship of the Reserve Fleet at Portsmouth, received by Bedford while he was serving on the cruiser HMS HAWKINS (1917) for King George V’s Silver Jubilee Review of the Fleet, July 1935. (2) Letter from the Admiralty, denying Bedford's claims that the submarine attack on the Convoy HG-3 was the result of an intelligence leak to the Germans before it departed from Gibraltar, signed by Malcolm G. Saunders, Intelligence Division, Naval Staff, dated 4 March 1948. With a returned copy of Bedford’s typescript report on the sinking of the troopship YORKSHIRE (1920) in the Bay of Biscay on 17 October 1939.
