Log kept by George William Mansfield on the barque LADY HEATHCOTE, 1868-1869.
The log details a voyage from Liverpool to San Francisco and back on the barque LADY HEATHCOTE (1868). Mansfield signed on as the ship's carpenter on 10 November 1868 at the age of twenty-two. The captain of the vessel was S Loosemore. According to the crew list (official number of the vessel: 62210) this was his first voyage. He was signed off on 5 September 1869 at Liverpool. From the 1871 census returns he was described as a shipwright.
