Convoys to Russia : allied convoys and naval surface operations in Arctic waters 1941-1945 /by Bob Ruegg and Arnold Hague.
Written as a result of research carried out following the decision to extend the period of application for the Soviet Arctic Commemorative Medal when it became apparent that no complete listing existed of ships taking part in convoys to North Russia. This text attempts to provide such a record and includes all vessels, naval and mercantile, participating in operations during the period 21 June 1941 to the end of 1945. The convoys are described in chronological order and indicate whether any enemy action was encountered. Some contextual information is also provided including typical cargoes and a description of the port of Murmansk as prepared by the Senior British Naval Officer, North Russia (SBNONR). Also included are lists of British and Allied warships lost, German losses during Arctic operations, chronological and alphabetical lists of merchant ship losses and indexes which list each merchant and warship and the convoys in which they participated.
