Walter Lord is probably best known for his book about the sinking of the Titanic 'A Night to Remember'. He also wrote a further book, 'The Night Lives On', following the discovery of the remains of the Titanic. This book covers his life and works. He wrote twelve books of popular history in total, covering topics such as the defence of the Alamo, Pearl Harbour, the Battle of Midway and the Dunkirk evacuation. Lord describes his life and writing career. He gives insights into his research and approach to writing. Much of this book is in his own words but there is some accompanying text by his editor, Jenny Lawrence, who interviewed him on many occasions. There are illustrations and photographs and an index.
