The history and development of the Tyne-Tees Steam Shipping Company created in 1903 as a result of the merger between the Tyne Steam Shipping Company, the Tees Union Shipping Company and Furness Withy & Company. The origins of each founding company are explored along with the company's acquisition by Coast Lines in 1943 and eventual absorption into P&O Ferries as a result of their acquisition of Coast LInes in 1971. The book is illustrated throughout with paintings and photographs of the vessels and corporate documentation.
