Bencoolen : a history of the Honourable East India Company's garrison on the west coast of Sumatra (1685-1825)

A history of the East India Company garrison on the west coast of Sumatra between 1685 and 1825, with information on the fortifications of York Fort and Fort Marlborough at Bencoolen and Fort Anne at Muko Muko. The garrison was set up to protect the Company's pepper trading factory and civil servants.
