Defining John Bull : political caricature and national identity in late Georgian England /Tamara L. Hunt.
The book explores how caricature played a key role in changing British identities. The late Georgian period has been referred to as the 'golden age' of caricature. Satirists responded to political controversies, and demand for caricatures grew as the public's interest in politics increased. In an era of rapid change, social and political, views on British identity shifted. The caricatures created in the late 18th and early 19th centuries reflected these shifts. Includes 131 illustrations.

The folk culture of the slaves in Jamaica / Edward Kamau Brathwaite.
"Folk culture of the slaves in Jamaica was written as part of a larger work: The Development of Creole Society in Jamaica 1770-1820. It was abstracted from this book and first published in 1970 as a separate pamphlet because of popular interest. The 'Folk culture' is a succinct historical analysiss of an alternative tradition in one area of Caribbean society. This new edition, a third reprinting, conforms more closely to the text of the chapter in The Development of Creole Society in Jamaica 1770-1820. It also contains some additional analysis and an improved bibliography."--Provided by the publisher.
