The general cargo heavy lift ship Empire Elaine (1942) at Madras, India.
A port side view, taken from well ahead of the beam, of the general cargo heavy lift ship Empire Elaine (1942) alongside a wharf at Madras, India. She is fully laden with the main frames of railway rolling stock and has the funnel markings of Lyras & Lemos. The photographer is on the roof of a quayside building looking aft and to starboard from abreast the bridge superstructure. Her mainmast and everything forward of it are out of the picture, as are the tops of her 5 ton amidships derricks and her mizzen mast.
