        On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow.  The photographer is in the engineers' workshop between 46¼ and 49 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to starboard from the doorway.  Storage cupboards and an air conditioning unit are against the aft bulkhead.  A 440 voly  electric Universal machine tool capable of drilling, turning, cutting, milling and grinding is in the centre of the space.  Against the forward bulkhead is a long workbench with cupboards beneath and equipped with two Fortis vices.  A Thermotank air conditioning unit is against the ship's side and an open escape scuttle from 3 deck is in the forward corner.
