On board the Royal Navy frigate Rapid (1942) in the North Sea off the Firth of Forth prior to her race with the destroyer Cavalier (1944) competing for the trophy of the 'Fastest Ship in the Fleet'. The photographer is on the starboard side of the aft end of 01 deck abreast the funnel looking aft and slightly to starboard showing the signalling projector in the foreground and the ship's motor whaler in its davits on the right.
