The Compagnie Generale Transatlantique passenger terminal quay in the north harbour at Algiers.

The Compagnie Generale Transatlantique Passenger Terminal quay in the north harbour at Algiers. The photographer is on board a passenger cruise ship at the seaward end of a line of pontoons joined together to form a causeway to enable passengers from the ship to come and go. A few local traders are hawking their wares, including rugs and carpets, from open boats alongside the pontoons. A local unidentified steam tug, seen from off her starboard quarter, has a line connected to the passenger ship.
