Mount Pelee at Martinique
        
        Mount Pelee at Martinique.  The photographer is on board a passenger cruise ship off the north-west coast of the island looking east-by-south showing low clouds covering the peak of the volcano.  The volcano erupted on 8 May 1902 and totally destroyed the town of St. Pierre with about 30,000 people being killed.
