The photographer is looking north-north-west from the accommodation ladder on the starboard side of an Orient Line cruise ship anchored in the Saltsjon showing a large number of local passenger ferries alongside the Skeppsbrokajen on the left and the Sodra Blasieholmskajen in Blasieholmen on the right. On the extreme right is the Skeppsholmsbron with the National museum beyond it.
