The Swedish cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) in Valparaiso harbour, Chile

A slightly distant port side view of the Swedish cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) alongside a wharf in Valparaiso harbour, Chile, during a cruise in South American waters. The photographer is on a raised promenade looking down on the ship and east-south-east across the harbour. The ship is in all white livery, dressed overall, her bow and stern are obscured and her lower hull is hidden by the quayside shed. In the foreground four people are standing by a stone pillared balustrade looking at the harbour which is crowded with shipping of all types. A steel floating dock built in 1924 is in the centre of the picture. A duplicate negative.
