'The first casualty dumping a dead horse from a Transport'.

A photograph taken from the deck looking down and along the side of the tranport ship as a dead horse is winched over the side to be disposed of in the sea. A number of Indian solders can be seen leaning over the rails as the horse's body, suspended in a rope harness from a davit hook, is winched out over the side.

The photograph is captioned in white ink 'The first casualty dumping a dead horse from a Transport'.
