A group of local men and boys standing by an outrigger canoe on a beach on the south coast of Ceylon. The boat's hull is an hollowed out tree trunk and the side is a canvas sheet lashed to a wooden framework which is nailed to the tree trunk. The wooden outrigger is rigged to the port side.
