A Shinto temple at Kamaishi, Japan. Two guardian komainu, or lion-dogs, are on either side of the entrance. The photographer is an apprentice serving on board the Bank Line cargo vessel Inverbank (1924) which is in port to discharge a cargo of scrap iron from the U.S.A.
