Ship's apprentice Horace Hayward and two British Phosphate Commission men on Nauru Island, South Pacific. Hayward is wearing trousers and the other two men, George Woolridge and Mr. Brown, are in shorts. The photographer is also an apprentice serving on board the Bank Line cargo vessel Tymeric (1919) which was moored at the island to load a cargo of phosphate for delivery to Australia.
