Bernie, the 2nd engineer, and three other men on board the cargo ship Eskdalegate (1969) while the ship is alongside a bulk carrier which is anchored in the Gabon River off Owendo, Gabon. The other three men are said to be Dennis, Alan and Norman. The photographer is on the starboard side of the deck looking aft from abreast the forward end of number 2 hatch. The ship was being used to lighter a cargo of cement coke from the bulker to a cement factory at Ownedo. This is Slide 44 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Lumber, Lorries and Luck", about his service as Second Officer on board the Eskdalegate from 13 November 1976 to May 1977. The lecture consists of 45 slides.
