A starboard beam view of the aft part of the tanker Elena (1969), being fitted out at Kawasaki, Japan. The photographer is standing on the quayside looking at the starboard side of Elena. Elena has a black funnel with the symbol of the Niarchos Group shipping company. The symbol consists of a large 'N' with blue, red and white stripes A jetty with a crane on is on Elena's starboard side. A gangway has been built into the starboard hull to allow builders to the interior of the ship. Bollards with rope attached are in the fore and middle ground on the quayside. part of the quayside runs along the starboard side of Elena. This is Slide 5 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the motor tanker Halcyon Days (1958), owned by Court Line Limited, from 5 October 1969 to 16 February 1970. This series contains 10 slides.
