Barges with masts are shown moored on either bank of a canal in the Scheepmakershaven part of the port of Rotterdam. In the foreground on the right is a narrow-beam barge with a raised stern deck on which stands a man poling the boat towards the quay. The image of the topsides of this boat is distorted by a technical fault in the negative.
