The Royal Naval Exhibition at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London in 1891
The Royal Naval Exhibition at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, ran from 2 May to 24 October 1891. This is in the Eddystone lighthouse replica with the Iceberg Pavilion on the right and the fishing smack Heroine (1858) on the left in the central open space of the site, taken from the arena. The exterior of the 170 feet lighthouse model was built of cement over expanded metal lathing and the central core was a 100 ton steel structure containing a lift to take visitors to the top. A copy negative produced by the NMM Studio of a mounted photographic print contained in Photograph Album No. ALB1386. Vertical format.
