The Royal Naval Exhibition at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London in 1891

The Royal Naval Exhibition at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, ran from 2 May to 24 October 1891. This is inside Section V of the Armstrong Gallery and represents a full-sized section of the battleship Victoria's (1887) turret in which is mounted a 110-ton gun on an hydraulic carriage. The gun is a mock-up made of plaster, 5½ tons of wood and half a ton of steel. The turret of the ship mounted two 110-ton guns but only one was shown in this gallery. A copy negative produced by the NMM Studio of a mounted photographic print contained in Photograph Album No. ALB1386.
