The Royal Naval Exhibition at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London in 1891
The Royal Naval Exhibition at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, ran from 2 May to 24 October 1891. This is inside Section V of the Armstrong Gallery and shows a large scale half-model of the 1st class battleship Victoria (1887). The ship is shown with her torpedo nets deployed. The half-model measures 34 feet long and is built to the scale of 1:12. A full-length mirror gives the impression that the model is a complete rather than a half model. A copy negative produced by the NMM Studio of a mounted photographic print contained in Photograph Album No. ALB1386.
