A close up of the starboard hull plating about station 340 just ahead of the outer propeller shaft swell of the battlecruiser Hood (1918) in dry dock at Portsmouth Dockyard. Tthe hull plating was damaged as a result of a collision with the battlecruiser Renown (1916) off Gibraltar on 23 Jan. 1935. The plates in strakes A to E were distorted, those in strakes A and E were repaired but the plating in strakes B, C and D had to be renewed. Vertical format.
