Sheet piling being undertaken to reinforce the walls of Vernon Creek, Portsmouth as seen from Marlborough Pier looking east-north-east towards the Vernon Establishment on Gunwharf. The Vesuvius building (55) is on the left, the Administrative Building (58) and the Vernon figurehead are to the right and the tree-lined football ground is on the extreme right beyond the head of the creek.
