Fitting heavy ramps? to an LCT Mark 5, possibly LCT (5) 2313, in No. 2 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire.
Shipwrights welding a large steel frame to a construction in the tank deck of a Mark 5 tank landing craft in No. 2 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from close to her starboard side amidships looking aft and to port. An A27 Centaur/Cromwell tank number T185078 is on the upper part of the deck. The back of a tank track can just be seen on the lower part of the deck on the extreme right. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P32/44 has been written in the bottom middle of the negative and the description given in this register is "fitting of heavy ramps for tanks". The ship may be LCT (5) 2313.
