Ship's bell

Ship's bell from HMS 'Dreadnought' 1801. With maker's name in raised lettering 'PACK & CHAPMAN OF LONDON FECIT 1778'. Complete with argent and six rectangular section canons. Normal moulding wires from crown, arranged 2, 2-2, 3-2. Two square holes in crown between double canons for false crown staple. Stump of square section, cast-in crown staple remains. Painted black.

'Dreadnought' a Second Rate of 98 guns, launched Portsmouth Dockyard, 13 June 1801. Broken up on 31 March 1857.
