Soup plate in vitreous stoneware. It is printed on the edge with a garter inscribed 'NORTH . OF . SCOTLAND . ORKNEY . & . SHETLAND' and on a scroll below 'SHIPPING . CO . LTD'. This encloses the company house flag - a blue, white, blue triband. The company ran a passenger and cargo service from Aberdeen to the Shetlands, Orkneys and Norway. The maker's mark is printed on the base of the plate.
