Ship model

An inaccurate model of the Sutton Hoo ship which was made using inadequate information from the first, hurried excavation of the site at the outbreak of World War II. Deposited at the British Museum by Charles W. Phillips in 1946 without being formally accessioned into their collection. Passed to the National Maritime Museum in 1971 and formally accessioned in 1981.
