Jubo Jubagah, known as Jaja (circa 1821-1891)

Relief portrait on a backing board with contemporary newspaper cutting pasted to reverse referring to Jaja's return from exile in the West Indies. Jubo Juboha, known as Jaja, was the colourful 'king' of Opobo, the Niger delta trading state, from 1869-87.
