Cronebane halfpenny token
Cronebane halfpenny token. Obverse: Bust of a bishop (right) in mitre and cope with crozier. Legend: 'CRONEBANE HALFPENNY.' Reverse: Seated figure of a woman with legs crossed, beckoning with index finger of right hand and left arm resting on an Irish harp. A spray of foliage in the exergue. Legend: 'HIBERNIA.' Other examples of these tokens bear the name of the Associated Irish Mine Company, incorporated in 1798, wih a copper mine at Cronebane, County Wicklow.
