Earthenware jug, transfer-printed in black with a circular portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) with ships behind him and naval trophies below. Above the portrait is inscribed 'ADMIRAL NELSON', around it 'ENGLAND EXPECTS THAT EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY' and below the trophies 'VICTORY'. On one side, a woman in classical dress with two young children, one playing with a lamb. Below the lip is shown a sailing ship in a circular floral border. The jug has black hand-painted rims.
