Jug

Brown-glazed earthenware jug, transfer-printed on one side in black with a circular portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), inscribed 'ADMIRAL NELSON', 'ENGLAND EXPECTS THAT EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY'. Ships are shown behind him and a laurel swag below. Under the laurel is the inscription 'VICTORY'. The gold lace on his uniform is hand-coloured in yellow and there are red rosettes on the swag.
