Jug
Creamware jug, transfer-printed in black with a circular portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) with ships behind him and a garland below. Above the portrait is inscribed 'ADMIRAL NELSON', around it 'ENGLAND EXPECTS THAT EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY' and below the garland 'VICTORY'. On the other side within a wreath the verse: 'A Hero great he was/His Country's praise & pride,/Most gloriously he fought/And for his Country died.' Black lines are painted around the rim and neck of the jug with dotted decoration down the handle.
