A sampan being sculled past the Bund at Shanghai.

A port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the sampan number 828 (or possibly 829) being sculled off The Bund at Shanghai. The sampan has a shelter amidships on which her number is displayed. She is passing a steam powered passenger launch. The image is very slightly unsharp. The photographer's ship was in Northern Chinese waters in the periods 3 June to 10 October 1937 and 8 June to 4 September 1938.
