Portrait plaque
Polychrome wax profile plaque of Admiral of the Fleet Adam Duncan (1731-1804) in uniform facing left. After the Wedgwood medallion modelled by John de Vaere in 1798. The coat appears to be a greeenish black with lace, epaulettes and a medal. The buttons are yellow, the ribbon of the order is red. The face appears orange, there is a white shirt ruffle, order and hair. The plaque is set on a black-backed glass mount, in a brown-painted wooden frame. 'J. Flaxman' inscribed below the shoulder. 'DUNCAN' in yellow is painted on the glass.
